Theo: imagine you've just started a new character and can't do anything outside of liberty, cos this is for beginners, what steps would you take to get cash/upgrades/whatever.

2Chilli: before you even take off sell your justices and some nanos and buy two mk2 lavas and do a few missions that gets you a good amount then you upgrade

2Chilli: Basically lavablades do way more damage to rogues etc, any ship with gravitons, scan em if you aint sure.
Theo: Right, and most of the ships in NY have graviton shields which are weak against plasma weapons, which the lavablades are, right?
Rhodan: Correct.

2Chilli: yeah they need a good aim if you cant aim well just go with justice.
Rhodan: With the money you get from missions you could venture out into the debris fields and tractor in Drails from some unfortunate Rogues.
Theo: not advisable in the very early stages tho rhodan
2Chilli: i got drails from some fo the missions i did at the start, theyre good for beginning but starflier only has room for one mk3

Rhodan: I think steve's trading approach requires more patience but Chilli's blade trade is what i do every time.
SteadySteve: Ok! once I get enough from the trade I buy a better shield and some turrets then I go mine for scrap metal or if I dont feel like it I go to detroit and bring light arms to West Point.
2Chilli: ugh steve no, thats about 50 profit per ton, youll do better with missions.
Rhodan: He's right, purely trade from the start is time consuming, especially if you are looking to getting your favorite ship.
SteadySteve: Rhino! okok, so missions to start with, then get the rhino and start trading.
Rhodan: If you'd like, yes, you can take Hydrogen Fuel from the Missouri to West Point for around 60 profit per unit.
SteadySteve: I do h fuel when i have more money and a rhino.
SteadySteve: usually wait for a rhino before doing that cos 80 units at 60 profit per unit is a chunk of cash.

Rhodan: It's a good idea because discovery is part of the fun.
SteadySteve: so what i just said is ok though isnt it?
Theo: yes fine go ahead as long as its in liberty and its not a secret base or jumphole, it can be mentioned.

2Chilli: the h-fuel one is good but id really recommend missions until you can afford a startracker to get you to kusari for a drake.

Theo: Okay folks, put into one sentence or paragraph what you think is best for starting off in multiplayer and post it, no messing around.
Theo: anytime now? lol.
choiceofweapon: i think start out doing missions get better justices until you can tractor in guns and stuff from ships you kill, then when you got enough money geta ship upgrade and attack freighters that carry good stuff like h-fuel or plymers.
Rhodan: Polymers are best sold at Newark Station, where they're 441 per unit, elsewhere they'll sell for only 80.

Rhodan: My recommendation for starting out is to get some Lavablades and take on a few assassination missions, this gives you one target and is usually easier than fighting a swarm of enemies. Once you have amassed enough money for a new ship, you can achieve more difficult missions and thus earn more money.
2Chilli: Basically sell your soul for a pair of lavablades then go out and amass the wealth by lightly toasting rogues. Once you have enough money to get better equipment or a better ship, go to the other systems and land at as many bases as you can to get some information on your trade comp and work out some good cash earners. Rhodan is right about assassination missions theyre usually easier as its only one kill, but also dont forget prisoner capture missions.
SteadySteve: I think maybe go with the blades idea and then buy a rhino and get big profits with a big cargo bay, and get loads of turrets cos the rhino has a whole bunch. Its fun to have a big cargo bay and lots of firepower because you can attack transports quickly, but get an 'Adv.Fr.Shield' as soon as possible cos youll need the extra 300 or so shield points. Hows that?
