Munchkins

What is a Munchkin?
A term given to people who always aim for the biggest and best stuff in the game, and who hold no interest for anything inbetween other than to use it as a stepping stone. The sort of person who'd take a million dollar handout as soon as they started the game and then go buy the best everything straight away and never do any different.

What's wrong with that? Well it's a choice just like any other in Freelancer. The only problem is that once you have the biggest ship with the best weapons, your only challenges are other players with the same. This might be fun for people who like deathmatch and all that competitive action, but it's no good when they start flying around blowing up lesser ships just because they feel like it.

But that's just part of the game, man.
There's something lame about being killed like that, because you know that this is probably some spotty over-masturbating teenager wacked out of his head on Ritalin. People like that think being better than someone else is more important than anything else. Attention-seekers, basically. The sort of person who'd switch supporting teams in the middle of watching a game. Either that or change the channel.

So what? Well, it's alright when there's only one or two in a server, but when you've got five who've made it to the top and three more begging money off them, it gets annoying, especially when they have no clue about the finer points of the game. They don't know about the details, about trading or weapon types or any of that crap.

But what about the guys who have the best but aren't like that?
I have no problem with them, in fact on one server i have my own class 10 ship with all the trimmings. I only have a problem with the arrogant, ignorant little munchkins who simply must have the best everything, be seen as the best and don't care about the rest of the game's features.

It *IS* only a game though, man. Yeah, this is only a website, too. If i'm going to be spending hours on a game i'd like to enjoy myself and have that time spent pay off dividends by me having a damn good time. If something gets in the way of that, even sometimes, it's a bad thing. Nothing wrong with getting it off your chest.

Alright so if i'm a Munchkin, would you tell me to f&ck off?
Nope, i'd simply say to you that there's a lot more stuff to enjoy in the game, especially different ships and different weaponry, missions and all the rest. I don't have a problem with you, just the fact that you've yet to grow up. If and when you do, you'll know what i'm talking about. If not, you won't.
